Emilia Fox drops hint about Silent Witness wedding plans
Nikki and Jack have finally got engaged and fans hope they make it down the aisle
What did you miss?
Silent Witness star Emilia Fox has hinted that her character's wedding plans may not be all plain-sailing.
Dr Nikki Alexander is set to wed forensic expert Jack Hodgson (David Caves) after a 'will they, won't they?' storyline than went on for years in the BBC crime drama. They got together in the last series, and viewers have kept a close eye on the romance since the show returned for its 28th series earlier this month.
Everyone has been hoping the pair will make it down the aisle, but during an appearance on The One Show, Fox suggested fans would see Nikki and Jack going about wedding prep in very different ways. "We'll see..." She teased.
What, how and why?
Fox was on the sofa on Monday, 13 January alongside her co-star Francesca Mills (who plays Kit Brooks) and host Alex Jones couldn't resist quizzing the star about Nikki and Jack's relationship. "Will there be a Silent Witness wedding?" she asked. "Because that's what we want to know!"
Laughing, Fox replied: "Well, yes it’s been bubbling along for a long time hasn’t it? Their friendship and then their getting together and seeing whether they can work together and love each other.
"We wanted to portray a healthy relationship on the screen and then now there is that commitment that’s been made."

She went on: "And with this series we see Jack trying to plan the perfect wedding, and Nikki sort of paralysed by how much there is to put in for arranging a marriage, so she doesn’t even know where to begin… We’ll see what happens!”
What else did Emilia Fox say on The One Show?
Silent Witness started in 1996 and Fox has been on the show since 2004, while Caves joined in 2013.
Discussing her long run in the series, Fox said: "I love it. I am fascinated by the subject matter anyway. I think I was brought up on the crime genre, I loved solving mysteries — things like Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie.
"And I think for me it is the medical side of it as well."
"It is so fascinating finding the clues within the body, to find out what happened to someone at the end of their life but also how they have lived their life," continued the star.
"We get to work with these incredible experts, the real pathologists and forensic scientists who guide us through. And so I find it really stimulating."
The One Show airs at 7pm on BBC One on weekdays.
Silent Witness returns at 9pm on BBC One on Monday, 13 January.
