Yahoo News Silent Witness's Emilia Fox left "mortified" by "misleading" relationship reports
Silent Witness star Emilia Fox has shared that she was left “mortified” by coverage of her relationship, calling them “misleading.”
The actor, who plays Dr Nikki Alexander on the BBC crime drama, took to Instagram on Saturday (December 28) to criticise how her relationship with partner Jonathan Stadlen had been portrayed by some media outlets, saying her words had been “manipulated negatively.”

“Very rarely do I intervene on what newspapers write about me or my relationships, but given that @jonathanstadlen is being contacted about it by loved ones, I actually do think it is worth clarifying what I have said in every interview when asked about our relationship and whether we are married, or not,” she began in the post, which included a photo of the article in question.

“I always try to answer thoughtfully, respectfully and truthfully, whilst being a firm believer that the people in my life who are not in the public eye, have the right to privacy. Jonathan and I are in agreement about what we are happy to say in public about our relationship.
“I am mortified therefore to see that my words and sentiments have been manipulated negatively by certain daily media. Luckily for me @jonathanstadlen is a very understanding partner, and although I try never to read articles, he has been alerted to these.”

Fox continued by saying that the “skew” on their personal lives were a “step too far,” adding that the headlines and articles were “misleading” by taking words “out of context” before clarifying that she and Stadlen were not "officially married".
Fox concluded by outlining her hope that the outlets who had already published “untruths” about her and Stadlen’s relationship would “correct their mischief”, citing the “spirit of good, healthy journalism” and a “good start” to the new year.
