The star was rushed to hospital in a head brace and spinal board after he fainted and fell down the stairs at around 8am on Friday morning, with Simon pulling out of last night’s show as he recovered from the incident at home.
It has been reported that doctors have advised Simon to rest at home until next weekend, concerned that the heat from the studio lights could trigger a relapse for the music mogul.
However, it is believed that the father-of-one will defy medical advice and feature on tonight’s show as his acts take to the stage for the first time.
Simon is still incredibly “shaken” and suffering from “bad pains in his neck” after the fall, with a source adding to The Sun: “He thought he may have broken his back, and he’s told friends it was the most scared he’s ever been in his life.
“We are expecting him to turn up on the show on Sunday. He doesn’t want to leave his acts to perform without him there.
“Provided he continues to improve, he will do everything he can to be there.”
Simon was given morphine to help him cope with the pain and it is believed that he will be undergoing more medical tests this week as doctors attempt to work out what caused him to faint in the first place.
Simon was looking after his three-year-old son, Eric, when he fell, and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman immediately flew home from New York to support the star once she heard about the incident.
