Simon Cowell Helps To Pay For Four Year Old Boy's Cancer Treatment

He might have gained a reputation for being TV’s Mr. Nasty but Simon Cowell has proven that he does have a heart after all.

The TV mogul has played a critical role in sending a four-year-old boy to America for life-saving cancer treatment after donating £25,000 to his fundraiser.

Brave Kian Musgrove is fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma and his family had already raised an amazing £730,000 for his treatment but they needed more help, with Simon organising and booking flights for both Kian and his mum Kat to go to New York to have treatment.

Simon also provided cash for a hotel and broke the news to 28-year-old Kat in a heartrending phone call as she sat at her son’s bedside in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.

Kat shared: “His generosity is absolutely amazing, it is so heartwarming.

"We will be forever grateful for his help and his part in our life-saving journey, it was such a lovely surprise which has come at such a difficult time.

"I would like to thank everyone who has been a pat of helping in any way at all, it really does mean the world to us.

"That kindness has kept us going and now we are finally on the way.”

A source close to Simon, who is dad to toddler Eric, added: “He was incredibly touched when he read of Kian’s story and delighted to help.”

Kat launched a campaign to get Kian to America for £500,000 treatment after he was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Kian was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma in October 2013 and has 27 different tumours, the illness ended up attacking the nerve cells around his kidneys on an adrenal gland.

The cancer tragically travelled around his body, spreading to his bones and across his pelvis - forcing the toddler to undergo stem cell removal, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

Kian was given the all-clear but last December Kat was told that Kian’s cancer had returned, leaving him to fight for his life again.

Simon heard about the campaign to get Kian to New York via Twitter, paying for their flights to the clinic as well as making a donation.

Kian will now remain in New York for five weeks as he begins his treatment, also needing extra radiotherapy treatment whilst over there.

We really hope that all goes well and that Kian is on the mend soon.
