McPartlin’s decision to step down from his hosting duties following his drink driving offence in 2018, resulted in him missing the BGT live shows leaving Dec Donnelly to host alone.

However, after a year away, Ant confirmed his return.

The presenter recently admitted that he was overwhelmed by the support he has received since he made the decision to return to the spotlight.

Speaking to the Metro, McPartlin explained: “Wow, it was so emotional for me. I don’t think either of us were quite prepared for that. We didn’t expect that level of goodwill and love. It was a very emotional day for me.”
