Simon Cowell 'spends £60,000 on seven electric bikes' as he begins healthier regime

He recently vowed to change his lifestyle after falling down the stairs at his home – and Simon Cowell is sticking to his word.

The X Factor boss is said to have splashed out around £60,000 on seven electric bikes as part of a new healthy regime, enabling him to cycle to and from work.

While the 58-year-old music mogul’s new modes of transport are battery-assisted, he still has to do plenty of pedalling and admitted he is feeling the effects in his legs already.

He told the Daily Mail: “I’ve been told to exercise more. Cycling’s quite boring so I decided to buy an electric bike and they’re literally addictive.

“So, I’ve bought three in America, and four in England, and now cycle to work every day.

“You do still have to pedal them – my legs have definitely got stronger – but they’re just a bit easier.”

The X Factor boss admitted he was “very lucky” not to seriously hurt himself.

Simon expects the e-bike craze to take off in London soon because of the bad traffic in the capital.

He added: “They’re going to be huge these things because you can’t really drive a car in London now.”

Following his fall last month, Simon vowed to change his lifestyle because he has “more responsibility than ever” since becoming a father to three-year-old son Eric, who he has with partner Lauren Silverman.

He said told The Sun: “Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock.

“They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out.

“After all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever.”

Sharon Osbourne, Simon’s fellow X Factor judge, recently admitted his partner Lauren told her Simon’s fall was made worse because he suffers from low blood pressure.

Speaking of her conversation with Lauren, Sharon said: “She was just saying that he suffers from low blood pressure anyway.

“Because of the concussion, that’s why he couldn’t come back [for The X Factor live shows].”
