The Simpsons spoofed Stranger Things and other works in the show’s new Halloween episode.

“Treehouse of Horror XXX”, which aired on Sunday, is the latest instalment in the “Treehouse of Horror” series, which is comprised of all of the Simpsons‘ Halloween specials.

It also happens to be The Simpsons‘ 666th episode overall.

The episode, the fourth in the show’s 31st and current season, begins with a tribute to The Omen, the 1976 horror film directed by Richard Donner.

This time around, Marge Simpson gives birth to a boy but the newborn is replaced by a baby girl (Maggie) who “tested positive than evil” and has supernatural abilities.

The episode then evolves into a parody of Stranger Things dubbed Danger Things, with Lisa as Eleven.

In this version, the Upside Down is renamed the Over Under and the Starcourt Mall featured in season three of the Netflix hit becomes the Rats Court Mall.

Later on, a segment spoofs The Shape of Water, the 2017 Oscar-winning film by Guillermo del Toro in which a woman falls in love with an amphibian creature.

The spoof is titled When Hairy Met Slimy and features Marge’s sister Selma as the protagonist.

The Simpsons has aired since 1989. The 30th anniversary of the show’s premiere in the US is on 17 December.
