The Simpsons star retires from show after 35 years
The Simpsons are casting a new actor to voice Milhouse after star Pamela Hayden announced her retirement from the animated show.
Hayden lent her voice to Bart's nerdy best friend for the past 35 years. She also voiced an array of other characters, including bully Jimbo Jones, Ned Flanders' son Rod, Chief Wiggum's wife and Ralph Wiggum's mother Sarah, Lisa Simpson's friend Janey Powell, and Malibu Stacy from the 1994 episode 'Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy'.
Hayden has shared she'll step down from the role to pursue other opportunities, with her final episode set to air this Sunday (November 24) in the US.

"The time has come for me to hang up my microphone, but how do I say goodbye to The Simpsons? ... not easily," she said (via Deadline).
"It's been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show, and to give voice to Milhouse and Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Janey, Malibu Stacy, and many others."
Hayden also commented on a video tribute shared by the show's official Instagram, writing: "After much deliberation, I have decided to retire from The Simpsons to pursue other creative outlets. Thanks to everyone for your love and support!"

Meanwhile, The Simpsons has recently solved a long-running mystery concerning protagonist Homer's job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
Fans have spent the past three decades wondering how Homer has been able to avoid getting fired despite his signature mix of laziness and carelessness. Finally, an episode premiered last October has provided viewers with an answer.
A season 36 episode titled 'Shoddy Heat' explored Grandpa Abe's past as a private investigator and revealed he was tasked to uncover some dirt on Mr Burns back in 1982.
When the power plant's owner killed his detective partner Billy for knowing a little too much, Abe was offered a choice. He could either report Burns to the authorities or take his offer and make sure that his son Homer would have a job no matter what. We all know how this one went.
The Simpsons airs Sunday nights on FOX in the US. The show currently streams on Disney+ in the UK.
