It's been six years since Sinead Harnett emerged as the excellent, honey-toned vocalist in electro music circles.

But she has recently come into her own with a long-overdue solo album, Chapter One, crafting music that finds a sweet spot between R&B, slow jams and hip-hop influenced soul. The intimate Jazz Café was well suited to her latest material, as Harnett pulled off a mesmerising hour of impressive vocal riffs and fierce antics to a devoted crowd.

Such was her intensity that it was impossible to ignore the sincerity of love songs like Equation or the bittersweet Still Miss You.

“I want a safe place for you lot to feel, and get your feels,” she said of her mission as an artist — and proved that point with a spine-tingling rendition of Heal You, joined by rapper Wretch 32. A dreamy cover of Solange’s Cranes in the Sky was just as touching. Harnett also honoured her previous collaborations with energetic throwbacks, including Boiling, an early alliance with Disclosure.

Hide was another fun-filled , raucous revival, as Harnett got down to Rudimental’s hectic production, assisted by a small but perfect band. It’s notable that in a performance that ranged from heartfelt introspection to dauntless female empowerment, Harnett’s vocals rarely faltered either, a beautiful quality that’s taken her far — and has set the stage for even more to come.
