Singer Cara Dillon shot in face by gun fired from passing vehicle as she walked through Frome

Northern Irish folk singer Cara Dillon says she was shot in the face multiple times with a BB gun from a passing vehicle while walking in Frome.

Dillon took to social media to share details of her ordeal. Avon and Somerset Police said enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

The Co Derry star expressed her shock, stating on social media: "Walking through #Frome tonight I was shot in the face by a BB gun multiple times by someone from a passing vehicle. I'm ok but really, really shocked."

Dillon praised Avon and Somerset Police for their response, advising others to "Be aware".

Additionally, the renowned Irish vocalist posted a photo showing what seemed to be pellets from the weapon used in the attack, reports Belfast Live.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers are investigating three reports of individuals being hit by a suspected BB gun pellet in Market Place and Rodden Road in Frome. Thankfully, we do not believe anyone has been seriously injured or required any medical treatment and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"We are asking anyone with any information to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference 5224144931 to the call handler."
