Sir Ed Davey criticises Government's Rwanda 'vanity project' as Home Secretary visits Kigali
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said the Government's policy of deporting people who arrive in the UK illegally to Rwanda is a "vanity project" for the Home Secretary. Suella Braverman arrived in Rwanda's capital, Kigali, on Saturday. She is travelling with journalists from GB News and PA Media, the UK's national press agency – but Sir Ed claimed "the free press" had not been invited to the visit. "A failure to invite the free press to scrutinise her policy means she should pay for the whole trip herself," said Sir Ed, "not at the expense of the taxpayer."
