Sir Richard Branson beats Jeff Bezos into space

Sir Richard Branson has beaten Jeff Bezos into space after Virgin Galactic’s Unity rocket plane took off on Sunday. Branson’s space flight comes just nine days before Bezos attempts his own in a ship made by the Amazon founder’s Blue Origin company. Branson returned safely to earth in New Mexico just over one hour after taking off. The 70-year-old entrepreneur’s craft reached 88 km above the earth’s surface in a video which was livestreamed worldwide. Bezos is due to fly into space on July 20th.
