Sir Rod Stewart 'sorry' for mimicking Jihadi John ISIS execution in video shared by Penny Lancaster

Sir Rod Stewart has been forced to apologise after he was filmed appearing to re-enact an Isil-style beheading while in the middle of the desert.

His wife, Penny Lancaster, shared the bizarre footage of her husband pretending to execute a man but has since deleted it.

In the short clip, Rod stands over his friend who who kneels in the sand as the ‘Maggie May’ singer holds his hand up to his neck and mimicks amputating him.

Penny, 45, didn’t make the link between ISIS and Rod’s actions when she captioned the video: “Rod Stewart (leader) band doing a ‘Beatles’ sand dune crossing.”

The 72-year-old music legend has now apologised to anyone he “offended” and explained he was simply “acting out” a scene from ‘Game of Thrones’.

He said in a statement: “From re-enacting the Beatles’ Abbey Road crossing to spontaneously playing out ‘Game Of Thrones’, we were simply larking about pre-show.

“Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended.

The star – who had fans in stitches with his Scottish Cup draw antics in January – has been slammed for the video in light of the be-headings of dozens of British people by Londoner Mohammed Emwazi, otherwise known as Jihadi John.
