Six DWP benefits axed with people informed 'by end of this month'
The Department for Work and Pensions is set to AXE six benefits. UK households and people on six DWP beneftis have been urged to act as soon as they receive letter as the DWP rolls out managed migration notices to people.
Six means-tested DWP benefits are set to end in the coming months. The DWP is moving Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) and Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) claimants onto Universal Credit.
By the end of this month, it's expected that 440,000 households will have received their mandatory migration notices. These notices will detail when and which of their legacy benefit awards are set to end - with people given three months to act.

Universal Credit has been available in all parts of the UK since December 2018, for people who make new benefit claims, who claim because their circumstances change (‘natural migration’) or who choose to move from legacy benefits to Universal Credit (‘voluntary migration’).
Eventually, all remaining legacy benefit claimants will be contacted by the DWP and told they must claim Universal Credit to continue to receive means-tested support (‘managed migration’). When this stage is complete, legacy benefits and tax credits for people of working age will cease to exist, and the full ‘caseload rollout’ of Universal Credit will be achieved.
If your Universal Credit entitlement is less than your entitlement to your legacy benefits, you will get a 'transitional amount' to top up your Universal Credit. Transitional Protection is not available to them unless they were getting Severe Disability Premium at the time they claimed Universal Credit.
Transitional protection is only available to two groups of people: people who are moved over to Universal Credit even though nothing has happened which makes them start a new benefit claim, and people who were getting Severe Disability Premium.
