Fancy clocking off work early every day?

You might be in luck, with the possibility of a six-hour working day coming to the UK.

Some companies in Sweden have already adopted the shorter working days, finding it improves productivity and happiness as staff have more time to enjoy their social lives.

And now companies in the UK are reportedly keen to follow suit.

The move was made by Toyota in Gothenburg more than a decade ago and led to happier staff, lower turnover rate and an increase in profits in that period.

According to the Birmingham Mail, a company called Filimundus introduced the new hours last year, saying that focusing on work for eight hours is a huge challenge.

Liverpool-based company Agent Marketing has reportedly matched the model, saying staff were more refreshed and energised since their hours were reduced.

Head of communications Jeanette Gill told the Birmingham Mail: “The extra time in the evening gives people a chance to reflect on their working day at home and think about solutions to problems.”

According to the Birmingham Mail, the company has been approached by others in the UK asking for advice on how to implement their own six-hour workday.
