A six-storey Edinburgh office building could be demolished to make way for an upcoming development.

A Certificate of Lawful Development has been submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council for the property at 1 Breadalbane Street in Bonnington, otherwise known as Anderson House.

According to plans submitted on behalf of Maya Capital, the building is in use as office space, although functioning at a "low capacity" with ground floors units having been vacant for some time.

The 800 square-metre site could be bulldozed to make way for a new development which plans have not been submitted for at this time.

A cover letter from Scott Hobbs Planning confirms the applicant's intent, saying: "The site is around 800sqm with the current building occupying around half of the site area. The Applicant intends to demolish the existing building in order to make way for a new development at this site.

"The extent of demolition is indicated within the down takings Plan submitted with this application. The existing building is currently in office use, functioning at a low capacity with ground floor units vacant for some time.

"The site does not contain any listed buildings, and the nearby listed buildings are located at 2Anderson Place and 3-33 (odd nos) Breadalbane Street (Former Bonnington Bond), to the north, west and south."

Planners will make a decision on whether or not to grand permission, with a detailed planning application on the proposed development expected in due course.
