New sizzling Korean restaurant offers unique experience in Plymouth
A Korean-style restaurant in Plymouth is providing new tastes to try, but also a very different dining experience. There’s an abundance of savoury dishes, many which are cooked at your table, followed by cute “instagrammable” wobbly cat desserts.
Based just outside of Plymouth Market, the In Seoul restaurant is drawing in the crowds with its massive selection of food, fun atmosphere and super-friendly service. The stars of the show here tend to be the Korean BBQ and hot pots - best shared between two or more people.
Barbecued beef, pork or fish is cooked as you watch on a circular table top grill, so it’s as much about the experience as it is about tasty food. There are several different cuts of beef or pork and types of seafood to choose from.

Reviews of In Seoul describe the place as a “welcome and delicious addition to Plymouth's restaurant scene”. The restaurant is owned by Prissana Hosakun, she opened the business in April 2024.
Reviewing the restaurant on TripAdvisor Claire D wrote: “We were so happy to see a Korean restaurant open up in Plymouth and it didn't disappoint. Three of us turned up without a booking on a fairly busy Friday lunchtime but were soon seated by the friendly staff. We shared the seafood pancake, which was delicious. I had an excellent beef bibimbap.”
Metal chopsticks are encouraged for cultural immersion, however cutlery is available for those who struggle to eat the Korean-style food in the traditional way. What’s more, the impressive thick straws - perfect for the Matcha Iced Latte - are made from plants, not plastic.
A plastic bib is advised for diners to protect your clothes, as it can get a little messy. After barbecued meat is cooked to your liking, you dip it in a chilli sauce, then roll it up with onion, pepper and kimchi in a lettuce leaf, making a lot of meat very manageable.
Owner Prissana explained that the Korean BBQ and hot pot is a “joyful moment to share with friends and family or work colleagues”. She said the setting offered a “chilled environment” while “cooking, sharing, chatting and drinking together”.
If the barbecue isn't your thing, there's heaps more to choose from at In Seoul. Classic fried soy chicken, which is sprinkled with white and black sesame seeds or Gyeran Jjim - a steamed eggs and cheese dish are a couple of the other options - the restaurant also caters for vegetarians and vegans.
For dessert, most customers want to try the kitty-shaped milk pudding, a Korean dessert known as punyangi - or “jiggly cat pudding”. The feature of the tasty almond-flavoured dish is the way it wiggles, it also looks cute and has been described as “instagrammable”.
TimsPlanet reviewed In Seoul on TripAdvisor, he wrote: “Give this a go, all you instagrammers. Good service and delicious, spicy food. We started off with kimchi and then grilled marinated beef, scallops, juicy prawns and fresh squid. The broth was full of noodles, vegetables and tofu.”
He added that his visit, with family, was “a great experience and worth it as a treat”. Next time, he wrote, “we’ll try the fried chicken and the Instagram-friendly jiggly cat pudding”.
