Skateboarder Travels Through Near-Deserted Times Square, New York

New York City’s iconic Times Square was near-empty amid the coronavirus lockdown, on April 5.

“Skateboarding down 42nd Street – only place open: McDonald’s,” Thorsten Roth, who filmed this video, told Storyful.

New York City Health reported 80,204 of confirmed cases and 4,260 deaths as at April 8, an increase of 779 deaths since April 7, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced.

However, Cuomo said the number of new virus patients being hospitalised was decreasing.

“Social distancing is working. We took dramatic action. It is flattening the curve. What we are all doing is having an impact,” Cuomo said in a tweet. Credit: Thorsten Roth via Storyful
