A mum has opened up about her impressive weight loss and how it has "completely turned around" her life. Vanessa Thomas, of Skegness, began her weight loss journey after a decade of battling various health conditions, such as fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), adenomyosis, and spine damage.

The 41-year-old has also been tested for multiple sclerosis. Vanessa explained: "I was taking multiple painkillers and medications, many of which came with warnings about weight gain. At my heaviest, I weighed 17 stone 9 pounds, and I was deeply unhappy in my body.

"My mobility was severely restricted, and I felt hopeless about ever losing the weight.” Her life was dominated by her health struggles and she battled the chronic pain, fatigue and emotional struggles they brought her.

Rebecca shared that in 2021 she discovered the 1:1 diet, and claims it has changes her life. She said: "At my heaviest, I felt like an observer in my own life. I was always the coat holder, but now I get to take part in family activities again.

"Losing my seven stone hasn’t cured my medical conditions, but I can hand on heart say that it has helped my life in doing so.” By the time Vanessa underwent a hysterectomy to manage her adenomyosis, she had already lost three and a half stone.

Despite there being some surgical complications, including bladder damage, Vanessa says her recovery time surprised doctors and she believes it was due to her improved health. She shared: "They couldn’t believe how quickly my bladder healed.

"I put it down to my improved health and the vitamins and minerals in The 1:1 Diet products.” In 2023, Vanessa successfully reached her target weight of 10.5 stone and this is something she has now successfully maintained for 12 months.

The mum added: "My health and energy levels have completely turned around. I’m not napping as much, my migraines have stopped, and the ‘fibro fog’ has lessened. I’ve even taken up kayaking again, thanks to the amazing support from Boston Canoe Club, who helped with my accessibility needs.”

Vanessa's weight loss success inspired her husband Martin to try the same diet and lose three stone himself. The pair has now lost more than 10 stone between them and created the 121 Team Thomas to support others on their weight loss journey.

Vanessa shared: "To date, our slimmers have lost a combined 50 stone. As a couple, we’ve lost 10 stone and gained a rewarding new career.” The duo were recognised over the weekend for reaching Bronze Elite Champion status with other consultants at The 1:1 Diet live convention in Telford.
