Close kale! Vegetable vendor inches from death when runaway police car nearly strikes her

An elderly vegetable vendor miraculously escaped death when a police jeep missed her by inches.

The 65-year-old woman, known as Pushpavati, was selling vegetables in front of a medical shop on the Old Jewargi road in Kalaburagi in southern India on December 21.

Dramatic CCTV footage shared by Ashok Nagar Police station shows her spotting an out-of-control police jeep at the very last moment. She instinctively pressed herself against the wall behind her and managed to evade the vehicle, which mounted the pavement, running over her vegetables and grazing her leg.

She was rushed to a hospital but is said to be fine.

An officer at the police station investigating the incident said the driver lost control due to a mechanical error.
