Sky is offering a brand new package offering more content than ever before – and the option to add even more.

The provider is transforming its Original bundle into a new Sky Entertainment package, which is set to include lots more channels for the same price – bringing the total to more than 350, including Sky Atlantic, MTV and Discovery. The Original bundle had 270 channels, so that's an increase of 80.

Customers will be also able to personalise their bundle with bolt-on extras for £5 a month for access to around 450 box sets, children's channels or HD.

However, it's worth flagging that this package won't include Sky Cinema or Sky Sports. The £20 Sky Entertainment bundle is available to both new and existing Sky customers (although current customers won't be switched onto the package automatically).

It's thought that the change aims to move the company away from old subscription deals and towards something more in line with on-demand services such as Netflix and its own sub-brand Now TV.

Taking advantage of the £20 Sky Entertainment package will require entering into a new 18-month contract. If existing customers don't want to accept a contract then the fee will be £25 per month instead.

A Sky spokesperson told Digital Spy: "We're introducing a new TV package called Sky Entertainment, which will let customers make Sky TV their own by personalising it based on what they love to watch.

"All customers will be able to enjoy the new package from January."
