A Sky weather presenter has told how she was reduced to tears by a cruel troll who told her to “lose two stone or stop standing sideways on camera”.

A vile troll told Nazaneen Ghaffar to “get a grip” and “cut out the carbs” in a scathing tweet posted on Friday.

The 33-year-old, who has been a weather presenter on Sky’s sunrise programme since 2010, was inundated with supportive messages after retweeting the vile comment to her 41,000 followers.

It read: “Naz, either lose two stone in weight or stop standing sideways to the viewer, you really are needlessly overweight.

“Your circle picture on your profile shows how you were, so now get a grip, cut out the carbs and it drops off.”

She replied: “Why is MY weight of YOUR concern? Think before you speak. You don’t know what’s going on in my private life. And regardless I am still the same person on the inside – whatever my weight.

“That’s all that matters."

Colleagues and fans shared messages of support, with Sky presenter Kimberley Leonard writing: “One of the most naturally beautiful people I know and one of the nicest.”

Sky Sports’ Presenter said: “Absolutely ridiculous that somebody would think it was acceptable to send that.”

The BBC’s Behnaz Akhgar tweeted: “I think you look amazing… who is this crazy person?”

TV presenter Matt Johnson wrote: “What the actual f*? Sod off you wretched little man.”

Ms Ghaffar later posted another message, thanking people for their support and admitting the troll’s message had reduced her to tears.

She said: “Thank you to every single one of you who replied to my previous horrid tweet. I immediately regretted giving him the satisfaction of my attention by retweeting it and I’m ashamed to say it did make me cry.”

Ms Ghaffar went on: “But then I read all your wonderful messages and I felt like I had the longest, warmest, and biggest virtual hug – and that’s why I love my job, because you all care about my weather forecasts no matter how big or small I am, or how sunny or cloudy it is.”
