Sky warns millions of TV customers to 'upgrade box' or 'miss out'

Sky customers have been warned to upgrade their box or miss out on major TV boost coming this summer. Sky customers have been told to upgrade their boxes ahead of the broadcaster launching Sky Sports+ in the coming months.

The new feature will air up to 100 sporting events at a time - 50 per cent more content than the standard channel. But some Sky customers won't be able to access Sky Sports+ unless they upgrade, it has been warned this week.

Sky Sports+ is available to customers with Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q packages. The app relies on internet-based streaming, which means Sky+ customers will not be able to access all the bonus content, it has emerged.

"Sky+ customers with a full Sky Sports subscription will receive the new Sky Sports+ linear channel but won’t have access to the live streams as Sky+ doesn’t have the capability," a spokesperson explained. "But they can access the live streams through the Sky Sports app."

The feature "gives you more choice with new live streams and a dedicated channel at no extra cost" Sky says. Sky - the home of Formula One Grand Prixs, the EFL football, major golf tournaments and more, says customers can watch your EFL team over 20 times a season, live on Sky Sports.

You can enjoy over 1,000 live EFL games including every Carabao Cup fixture and every match from the men’s Super League as well as over 100 tournaments across the US Open, ATP & WTA tours. It also offers the capability to show up to 100 events concurrently.

It is available on Sky TV, streaming service NOW and the new, improved Sky Sports mobile app and Sky says it makes it easier for you to follow your favourite teams and sports next season.
