Yahoo News Skyfall's Sam Mendes to direct live-action Pinocchio?
Disney's plan of making live-action versions of their classic animated films and getting tried and tested directors to helm them has been working out well so far, so it's no surprise they're trying to get the man behind the highest-grossing James Bond involved too.
Deadline reports that the House of Mouse is in talks with Sam Mendes, who directed both Skyfall and Spectre, to helm the live-action adaptation of Pinocchio. It's important to note that this isn't a done deal yet, as the publication states the talks are in the early stages.
What we do know is that the script has been written by Chris Weitz, who wrote Cinderella and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and directed The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Disney's live-action adaptations have led to huge box office success, with last year's The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, grossing almost a billion dollars worldwide and the recent Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson raking in $1.2 billion.
Looking ahead, Disney have plans for a The Little Mermaid re-make with Lin Manuel-Miranda, Dumbo as directed by Tim Burton and Guy Ritchie's Aladdin, along with Mulan and The Lion King, again with Jon Favreau.
There's also a sequel to last year's live-action The Jungle Book in the works too.
Meanwhile, a 25th Bond movie is being worked away on in some shape or form, but while we know Sam Mendes won't return to direct, no one is sure if Daniel Craig will actually be back as 007 himself.
