The workplace messaging app Slack has experienced the second major outage to its service in less than a month, with users in the US seeming to be the worst hit.

Slack users began reporting issues with the messaging platform on Tuesday, 17 July, with the firm's status report claiming "some users are experiencing issues."

The route cause appears to be problems with Slack's serviers, according to the Slack Status Twitter account, which keeps users updated on app's status.

Slack – which is an acronym for Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge – boasts around 8 million daily active users, with 3 million of them paying for the service.

Since launching in 2013, the company s it tool has helped streamline workplace communications and improve collaboration between employees.

It can be used across multiple devices and platforms, including Android, Windows, Mac and iOS on iPhone and iPad.

Slack kept its users updated via Twitter, telling one person: "We're sorry to say that the stability appears not to have been so stable after all. Terribly sorry about that – we'll regain our balance and get you back online."

Another post stated: "So sorry about the trouble. We are aware of the issue and our team is working to fix it as quickly as possible."
