This Slimming World friendly McDonald's fakeaway has been described as "unreal" and is easy to make. Sometimes you may crave a fast food meal after a long week or you might just not want to cook.

If you're trying to lose weight these types of meals can be high in calories and may want to be avoided. However, Instagram user Sarah's SW Diary may just have the answer.

The content creator has 121,000 followers and recently shared an "unreal" fakeaway recipe for one of McDonald's newest additions to the menu, and fans can't get over how tasty it looks, reports the Daily Record.

Sarah also creates other fakeaway recipes, including Chinese-style salt and pepper chips to McDonald's breakfast flatbreads and everything in between - all of which have helped on her Slimming World journey. They can be found on her Instagram account.

Another recipe included her own take on the McDonald's Philly cheese steak burger which hit menus a few months ago after being taken aback at how much they cost to buy from the fast food retailer. According to Sarah, it cost just £3.50 to make two portions of the meal, and it was also much more Slimming World friendly as it was "a fraction of the syns".

Writing in the comments, people have said that Sarah's fakeaway version looks "more appealing" than the real thing, with plenty more commenting how "unreal" the burger and chips were. Here's everything you need to make the burgers and chips, and how to do it.

Philly Cheese Steak burger and chips (serves two)

For the burgers

  • Aldi 5% beef fat mince

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp gourmet burger seasoning

  • Onion

  • Brioche buns

  • Cheese slices

  • Gherkins

For the chips

  • Potatoes cut into chip shapes

  • Sprinkle of chip seasoning

  • Fry-lite spray

Method

  1. To make the chips, season with the chip seasoning, spray on some Fry-Lite and place into an air fryer on 200 for 30 minutes, shaking the basket regularly.

  2. In a bowl, mix together the beef mince, seasoning and the egg, and mould into four burger shapes. Fry these until cooked through.

  3. Then, fry off some sliced onion until it's crispy.

  4. Fill each burger bun with a burger, one cheese slice, a gherkin, another burger and another cheese slice. Top this with crispy onions and another 'runny' cheese slice - created by microwaving the slice for 20 seconds with a splash of hot water.
