Slimming World member shares simple way she 'completely transformed' her life
An Essex woman who used to feel unfit, constantly out of breath and tired has reached her target weight with Slimming World and thanks them for ‘completely transforming her life’. She said: "Over the years, especially during lockdown, I struggled.” She said that by June 2022 she was ‘extremely unhappy’ with her weight, constantly tired and had to buy bigger clothes. She added: “I was above my BMI and knew it was time for a change.”
By eating well, following her Slimming World plan and doing plenty of dog walking, Sara finally reached her target weight, losing a total of 2 stone and 9.5Ibs. Sara says that it's been an ‘incredible journey’ adding: “I’ve not only proved the doctors wrong, but I’ve also shown myself that I’m capable of achieving anything.”

When asked what she loves most about Slimming World and food optimising, which is a flexible eating plan from Slimming World based on the idea of eating foods with high protein and carbohydrates to help with weight loss. Sara mentioned how flexible and simple it is to make healthier food choices. She said: “I’ve never felt better! I have more energy, a positive outlook, and a newfound confidence in myself.”
Sara says one of the biggest challenges she faced was navigating social situations that involved food, adding that most of her friends and family would ‘indulge’ in dessert, but Sara felt content with a decaf tea, as dessert was an ‘extra treat she didn’t need’. She added: “Moments like these showed me how much my mindset and habits had changed for the better.
“Through perseverance, attending the fantastic weekly groups, meeting wonderful people I now call friends, and the unwavering support of my fabulous consultant Toni, I stayed focused and motivated.”
Running has become a new hobby of Sara’s which is something she says she never thought she’d be able to do. Sara explains how exercise has now become an important part of her routine adding: “It not only helps me maintain my weight but also improves my well-being and keeps cravings in check.”
Reflecting on her journey Sara said: “I feel proud of the challenges I’ve overcome and how far I’ve come” and that sharing her experiences and supporting others has become such a rewarding part of her life.
