Slow Horses' Gary Oldman lands exciting new role
Slow Horses star Gary Oldman has landed an exciting new role, with the actor set to return to the stage.
The star, who plays the cantankerous Jackson Lamb on the Apple TV+ show, will appear in York Theatre Royal’s production of Krapp’s Last Tape, the 1958 play by the acclaimed Samuel Beckett.
The one-man play follows the titular character as he reminisces on his life on his 69th birthday, with his only company being a glass of wine, a banana and a tape recorder. As he listens to a recording from his younger self, Krapp begins to “face the hopes of his past self.”

“When Gary visited us at the beginning of the year, it was fascinating hearing him recount stories of his time as a young man, in his first professional role on the York Theatre Royal stage,” said York Theatre Royal CEO Paul Crewes.
“In that context when we started to explore ideas, we realised Krapp’s Last Tape was the perfect project. I am very happy that audiences will have this unique opportunity to see Gary Oldman return to our stage in this brand new production.”
The first preview of the Krapp’s Last Tape will take place on April 14 2025, with performances running through until 17 May 2025. Tickets go on general sale from November 16, with members being able to purchase five days earlier.

Whilst the run of Krapp’s Last Tape is just over a month, fans of Oldman – and Slow Horses – will be getting more of Lamb and his agents after the show was renewed by Apple TV+ for a sixth series.
“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” Jay Hunt, Apple TV+'s creative director in Europe.
Slow Horses seasons 1-4 are streaming on Apple TV+.
