When The CW announced the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover, the imaginations of fans around the world started going wild.

The famous comic series that the Arrowverse will be adapting is all about multiple universes, which means there's a possibility of mashing up tons of DC films and TV shows.

Even though it's a while away, it's already been confirmed that Superman Returns' Brandon Routh, Batman: The Animated Series/Arkham-verse's Kevin Conroy and the '60s Batman series star Burt Ward will all be appearing in the TV event.

So when Smallville's Tom Welling posted an Instagram video of himself filming a new project in South Africa, we weren't surprised that fans quickly started asking the same question.

It looks like Welling was filming for his new TV show The Professionals, as he captioned the post: "Very PROFESSIONAL location for a shoot ;)."

But that didn't stop one fan from sharing their hopes that Welling will star in the Arrowverse crossover, commenting: "I hope you're in Crisis on Infinite Earth's [sic]," to which Welling replied: "duh!!!"

Alright, so it's not an official confirmation – but it's also not a denial like his Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum recently made, so it looks like we'll just have to wait if Tom Welling is just trolling all of us on this one.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths' is also said to feature characters from Black Lightning, which has been its own thing up until now. Here's hoping that the crossover acts like its comics' namesake and tidies up the muddled continuity.

And while we don't think it'd happen, it'd be very interesting for the crossover to feature (and possibly wrap up) elements from the DC movies too.

The Arrowverse airs on The CW in the US, while Sky One, NOW TV and Netflix carry the shows in the UK.
