‘Smart Boy’ Concept Images Show What A Nintendo Smartphone Could Look Like

Stunning concept images of the ‘Smart Boy’ show what a smartphone made by games giant Nintendo might look like.

Described by its designer, Pierre Cerveau, as ‘a smartphone infused with the gaming essence of Nintendo’, the Smart Boy is a modern Android smartphone incorporating the retro look of Nintendo’s famous Game Boy handheld console.

Along with interchangeable sections including a physical Game Boy-style controller, the concept phone sports a fittingly lo-fi power-saving 8-bit mode.

Other swappable modules include a 3D camera, extra battery and additional memory.

The concept images also include a touching tribute to the legendary Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, who tragically passed away at the age of 55 last week.

Mr Iwata appears in a screen shot with Nintendo character Mario along with a discreet message reading ‘In Loving Memory’.

Cerveau recently unveiled a similarly vintage Macintosh Phone - a concept showing what an Apple phone would have looked like in the 1980s.
