Will Smith clearly enjoyed being let loose on his son Jaden's dreadlocks.

He's posted photos on Facebook posing with Jaden's chopped-off hair, even trying out how it looks on him, but the haircut was for a good reason.

"Getting Jaden Smith ready for the first day of filming #LifeInAYear...maybe I should've used scissors?!" Will joked on the post, referencing Jaden's new movie with Cara Delevingne.

Weepy teen drama Life in a Year sees Jaden play a 17-year-old boy whose girlfriend, played by Cara, is dying, leading them to try to squeeze their entire life into the year she has left to live.

Even just reading that synopsis makes us reach for the tissues.

Will had good reason to take a personal interest in his son's look for the movie too as his production company Overbrook Entertainment is working on the film, which is currently shooting in Toronto.

They've previously worked together in The Pursuit of Happyness and After Earth although, unlike those movies, Will won't be starring in Life in a Year.

Will the movie be as good as Jaden's recent performance piece for Vanity Fair though? That saw him deliver some of the world's most mind-blowing facts to camera in dramatic and hilarious fashion.

Life in a Year, which also stars Terrence Howard and Nia Long, will be released in cinemas in 2018.
