Yahoo News Will Smith clone movie Gemini Man praised as "breathtaking"
You'd be forgiven for harbouring scepticism about Will Smith's upcoming project Gemini Man, what with the plot being old Will Smith fights young Will Smith and all, but the first reviews are in and it looks set to be a big hit.
Proving that we should never have doubted Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, initial reactions for Gemini Man have branded the sci-fi action thriller as "breathtaking" and "a technical marvel".
Gemini Man sees elite assassin Henry Brogan (Smith) face his biggest challenge yet when a mysterious young operative who appears to predict his every move is revealed as his clone.
Critics are sharing their thoughts on the young-versus-old format on Twitter, with ComingSoon.net's Max Evry calling Smith's performance "winning". "If you don't see it in theaters you're missing a true experience," they added.
"GEMINI MAN is a technical marvel. In its high frame rate of 120fps, the action sequences legitimately took my breath away," another agreed, while one reviewer said it was "the only 3D movie [they'll] ever endorse."
The praise continued, with Fandango's Erik Davis writing: "Old Will Smith vs young Will Smith equals a visually visceral experience that's absolutely wild to watch at times. Again, Ang Lee delivers bold, unique action that’s on par w/ the best."

And if the celebration of Gemini Man's groundbreaking special effects isn't enough to pique your interest, then perhaps this takeaway will: "In GEMINI MAN the young Will Smith throws not one, but two (2) motorcycles at the old Will Smith", Collider's Vinnie Mancuso shared.
"And that, to me, is very good. Highly recommend."

GEMINI MAN is a technical marvel. In its high frame rate of 120fps, the action sequences legitimately took my breath away. The 20-year-old script leaves something to be desired but seeing a young Will Smith pull off the dramatic moments was a treat.

Speaking about his latest project, director Ang Lee recently shared his hopes for "a completely new theatrical cinematic experience" in Gemini Man.
"It is my great fortune to be able to experiment and test the limits of what new digital cinema has to offer us," he said following the film's recent trailer release.
"No less so to be able to work with two Will Smiths – one beautifully sophisticated, the other exuberantly honest. In my opinion, this is Will at his very best, and when the two come together, it is something truly magical."
We've forgotten about Will's bright blue turn as Genie in Aladdin already.
Gemini Man, also starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wongis, is set for release on October 11, 2019.
