Smoke and Flames Billow From Building After Explosion in LA's Little Tokyo

An explosion in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles injured several firefighters and left multiple buildings burning on Saturday, May 16.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said an explosion on the 300 block of E Boyd Street had caused a fire in several structures with approximately “10 firefighters down.”

The fire department later said more than 230 firefighters were responding to the blaze and medical personnel were treating the injured, although their conditions were unknown. Local media reported that at least one fire truck had been burned and was covered in debris from the inferno.
