Smoke From Rices Fire in Northern California Visible From Space Station

Smoke from the Rices Fire in Northern California was captured by a camera on the International Space Station on Wednesday, June 29, as Cal Fire reported that the fire was “rapidly developing,” burning 769 acres, and was zero-percent contained.

Mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders were in place for several areas of Nevada County, and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said more than 600 personnel were assigned to the fire. Credit: ISS Above/NASA via Storyful
