One of Glasgow's most popular burger spots has teased a team up with one of the city's hottest new arrivals – as well as announcing a thrilling new expansion.

East end street food specialist Smokey Trotters Kitchen is creating the pop-up with viral coffee and cinnamon roll brand Shot 'N' Roll with a number of exciting specials.

Owner Robert Lorimer - or Big Smokey as he's more commonly known - is also delighted to share the news that he's opening a fifth Glasgow venue in the south side next month.

Speaking about the collab, which runs from Friday, January 17 until Sunday, January 19, Robert said: "I absolutely love cinnamon buns, and weirdly enough I was going to do a special with a donut or a cinnamon bun, but these guys messaged me to collab so the stars have aligned.

"This is putting my favourite things together…….burgers, fried chicken, and cinnamon buns. These guys have a great product, I’m buzzing for people to try it when it’s incorporated with our scran."

He revealed that they will be offering the Roll With It, a toasted cinnamon bun double cheeseburger with bacon pickles fried egg and maple and mustard mayo, and the Cherry Cinnamon, a french toast cinnamon bun with Nashville fried chicken, a fried egg, Stornoway black pudding and Cherry Broon sauce maple syrup.

Famed for its dipping burgers, sandwiches, nuggets, wings and fries, STK recently impressed top Canadian foodie and presenter Brant Pinvidic, who named its burgers "the best in the world".

And Old Smokey is delighted to be heading south with his latest opening, with his fifth spot in the greater Glasgow area set to open in Cambuslang on February 6.

He stated: "I started looking at Cambuslang and East Kilbride after receiving loads of messages asking if we would get a Smokey’s out there, so I started looking for places.

"Glasgow city centre, east end, Southside and west end, that’s where most people try and set up, but there’s loads of places outwith that shouting out for good food."

The burger expert confirmed that people can expect the same quality scran they get in the other kichens around Glasgow.

He added: "Remember this all started with just myself, a fryer, and a griddle. We’re now in four destinations in Glasgow, this will be the fifth. I’ve had to train the head chefs down to the finest details so that our customers get Smokey’s the way they’ve come to expect it. We have the same customers since I did a pop up in McChuills back in 2014."

And he has an extra surprise in store, with announcement that it will also be the launch of his newest project, Paulie's Pizza.

"This is something I’ve been wanting to do for years," he added. "NY style pizza, with some bangin sides. Smokey’s and Paulie’s will both have kitchens in the same premises, and they’re both takeaway. There is a pub next door, so you can scran in there while having a couple of drinks.

"I’m really excited to get this one up and running as it’s not only the expansion of Smokey’s, it’s the introduction to Paulie’s."

We can't wait to head along to try out both.
