If you've ever complained about there being too much TV to watch nowadays, don't expect things to get better anytime soon, as Snapchat has revealed that it's launching its own TV platform straight to your phone.

Snap Inc – which is the name of the social network's overall company – revealed that it's teamed up with NBCUniversal to create new content with the brains behind show such as the US Office and Parks and Recreation.

The episodes are thought to be 3-5 minutes long and won't be the first, as the company previously produced an Emmy-nominated version The Voice US, which involved entrants submitting audition videos straight from their mobile phones.

Meanwhile, MTV revived its classic show Cribs, then launched each episode in the app's Discover section, plus comedy Girl Code has made the jump to the social network.

The content will slot in under the 'Shows' section of the app and you'd be forgiven for thinking this all sounds very similar to Facebook, which has already launched its own TV shows section in the US called 'Watch'.

Mark and Jay Duplass, who made HBO's Togetherness and Room 104, will be making the first shows on the platform and they're obviously stoked.

Mark said in a statement: "We're super psyched to partner with Snap and NBCUniversal.

"For us, shooting in that vertical mobile format is a terrifying and thrilling creative challenge."

We imagine having dog filters on most of the cast when they're not meant to be portraying dogs must be quite troublesome, too.

Meanwhile, we'll look forward to the inevitable appearance of 'Twitter TV', 'WatchApp' and 'InstaTV' from the other social networks in the coming months.
