Sneak peek at new ice skating rink coming to Liverpool

A new ice skating rink is coming to the city in time for the festive season. The ice rink, called IceBox, will open at BOXPARK Liverpool on Friday, November 22 until Sunday, January 5.

The winter ice rink will be located directly opposite the BOXPARK Liverpool venue in the heart of the Baltic Triangle's Cains Brewery. An artist's impression has been released by the venue, giving guests a sneak peek of what the ice rink will look like.

Surrounded by twinkling Christmas lights, the ice skating rink will be available every night until 11pm with various opening hours. Tickets for IceBox at BOXPARK Liverpool are available here starting from £12 per person.

IceBox is so far the only ice skating rink confirmed for Liverpool this year. St Luke's 'Bombed Out' Church confirmed to the ECHO its ice skating rink, which debuted in 2023, won't return this festive season.

Earlier in the year, a tender document asked for organisations to take on the running of an ice rink and other entertainment in keeping with the surroundings. It said: “To create a magical Christmas experience for our residents and visitors, Liverpool City Council is seeking proposals to create a festive wonderland on Liverpool's world-famous waterfront, with an enchanting Ice Rink centre piece, a selection of vintage style/traditional fairground rides and an array of festive stalls, selling gifts, crafts, artisan goods as well as a selection of festive food and beverage items."

Councillor Harry Doyle, Liverpool Council cabinet member for health, wellbeing and culture, said: "There hasn’t been an ice rink at the Pier Head since 2019, so we’re keen to encourage expressions of interest from festive events specialists who will bring an experience which is not only in keeping with the beautiful surroundings but will have real visitor appeal and position Liverpool as the perfect location to get into the Christmas spirit."
