Snow alert in UK as temperatures fall in parts of country
Parts of the UK has been forecasted snow as heavy rain is set to batter parts of England and Wales this week. A large front of heavy rain is set to move in from the southwest tonight, bringing with it several days of downpours.
But there's snow could also be on the way for some far corners of the region. According to maps from WXCharts, flakes could fall in the Scottish Highlands on Friday, reports DailyStar.
And there could be further snowfall in the northwest the following morning. It comes as much of the country is bracing for wet weather.

Yellow weather alerts are in place for heavy rain in England and Wales tomorrow and Friday. Some of the most unlucky spots could see rainfall as high as 10mm per hour.
This is likely to be the case in central and eastern areas of England, while the far north could see showers of a more wintry variety. The rest of the UK however has been warned to prepared for more rain after a week of flooding and major transport disruption.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen said on Wednesday: "With the rain today and tomorrow potentially falling on already saturated ground a number of warnings for rain have been issued outlining the increased risks for potential impacts. The highest rainfall totals are likely across the Pennines and North York Moors where 80-100mm could accumulate on Thursday, while others within the warning area could see 20-30mm quite widely. More severe weather warnings may be issued over the coming days so it's important to check the latest forecast for your area."
Forecasters are also predicting a substantial drop-off in temperatures going into the weekend, thanks to a blast of cold Arctic air. Many areas will see their first frost of the autumn. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Brent Walker said: "Things will be turning decidedly cooler into the weekend, with frost likely for much of the UK overnight on Friday and a more autumnal feel to daytime temperatures."
"A north-westerly flow of air is developing, bringing cooler Arctic air over the UK and dropping temperatures into the weekend before the next low pressure system pushes across the country from the North Atlantic. This will bring the potential for some very wet and windy weather late on Sunday and into the start of next week, though there is much detail to be determined on the exact conditions so stay up to date with the latest forecast."
