Snow Piles Up as Northern Maine Braces for Another Winter Storm

Even as blowing snow from a previous snowfall was collecting in drifts in parts of Caribou, Maine, on January 9, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of a “potent” winter storm forecast to hit during the weekend.

The NWS of Caribou shared this footage that shows snowdrifts outside the meteorological service’s office. The NWS said the lingering snow was accompanied by a 9 F temperature, with a wind chill of -8 F.

The weather service forecast a winter storm to hit northern and eastern Maine over the weekend. It projected the possibility of “significant” freezing rain or sleet that could create hazardous conditions. Credit: @NWSCaribou via Storyful
