Announced back in January 2018, we finally have our first look at the Snowpiercer TV series starring Jennifer Connelly and Velvet Buzzsaw's Daveed Diggs.

Fans of Snowpiercer will know that the titular locomotive first began life in a series of graphic novels, which were then turned into an acclaimed Chris Evans movie back in 2013.

Check out the latest kids on the block (or train carriage, in this case) below.

Via Entertainment Weekly, we can now see the sleek design of Melanie Cavill's (Connelly) upper-class area of the train, who's captured in frame here next to a poor handcuffed soul.

Meanwhile, there's also a closer look at Melanie's (we assume) more private carriage, which is stacked with commoditised bottles of alcohol.

A third image features the apocalyptic train's lower-class segment, with snowflakes peppering the air and two layered-up survivors looking into the distance.

Snowpiercer certainly looks to be faithful to the source material, even if it doesn't quite get the same mind-blowing cast from the movie.

Diggs portrays an ex-detective on the series named Andre Layton, who's recruited by the ruling authorities aboard the train to track down a murderer.

The actor explained: "Layton is a resident of the tail, which is the lowest class all the way at the back of the train. But he becomes useful for people up-train."

Connelly's Melanie is the head of hospitality who's also "the voice of the train, she does the announcements to all of the passengers".

Snowpiercer is expected to air in spring 2020 on TBS.
