Snowstorm Causes Huge Traffic Jam on New Mexico Freeway

A major snowstorm that blanketed large parts of New Mexico on November 7 left miles of traffic at a standstill on Interstate 40 for several hours.

The conditions left “multiple vehicles stuck on the roadway” and prompted the closure of I-40 in both directions at Clines Corners, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation (DoT).

Footage shot outside Santa Rosa, about 50 miles east of Clines Corners, shows dozens of vehicles stuck on the freeway as heavy snow reduced visibility and blanketed the area.

Further north, the storm forced closures on Interstate 25 and on US-64 and US-56, state police said. Credit: Ricardo Muniz via Storyful
