Society ‘collectively devaluing’ elderly and disabled as social care delays rise

The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (Adass) is calling for an urgent injection of social care funding. Their new research finds unprecedented numbers of people are needing help at home. Adass say increased demand, people seeking help with more complex conditions, and a lack of social care staff are behind “enormous” waiting lists. Adass chief executive Cathie Williams is interviewed, and there is a statement from the Department of Health and Social Care.
