Solihull dashcam footage shows 'unauthorised encampment' in Monkspath Hall Road car park

A group of travellers have moved onto a popular Solihull car park. Dash-cam footage shows more than a dozen caravans on Monkspath Hall Road car park today, May 28.

We understand the group moved onto the site on Bank Holiday Monday. Caravans were today seen parked at the back of the facility, which has 1,043 car spaces according to Solihull Council's website.

The authority said it was working with police to move on the group "as quickly as possible". Drivers were still using the car park today.

A spokesperson for the authority said: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment in Monkspath Hall Road car park. "Working alongside Solihull Police, we are undertaking the necessary legal actions to move them on as quickly as possible.”

In separate incidents, travellers also pitched up at the site in 2016 and then a year later in 2017. We reported how, in 2016, a group of travellers arrived as another group were issued with an eviction notice.

All groups were eventually moved on after Solihull Council said their presence was "unauthorised".
