Pretty much everyone who uses Netflix has binged on Stranger Things over the summer, so it’s only natural that people would take great interest in the show. Inevitably some always take it too far.
There are fans and then there are uber fans. And then there are the ones you find on Reddit. The issue at hand? How much, or in this case how little, words Millie Bobby Brown has to say in the whole season.
One fan in particular, username ValdemrSt, claims to have observed the lack of dialogue our heroine, shaven-headed Eleven, has so counted ALL of the words she says.
Dedicated or insane: you decide.
Interestingly, it’s claimed that she utters a total of 246 words, which isn’t a lot considering she’s one of the main character and some actors could say that much in just one scene.
In the post they break down the series into episodes and note how many words Eleven contributes with in each. Episode one, for example, is an eye-opener, as she says a measly three words!
Episode seven is her peak when she says 70 in total and it’s then halved during the season finale.
I think the point of this experiment, if you can call it that, is to highlight how little she contributes verbally but the incredible impact she has is plain to see. It’s not even about the fact that the lead female character has nothing to say… or is it?
I believe that, regardless of the amount of dialogue, Millie’s role is undoubtedly the standout performance in the show and the fact she has relatively little to say accentuates her amazing acting ability.
Still, let’s hope she has a little bit more of a literal voice in season two, eh?
