Somerset has 'the best' adult only camping sites in the UK
The winners of the 2024 Campsites.co.uk Camping and Glamping Awards have been announced - and some Somerset campsites have claimed the top prizes.
The awards have been designed to highlight some of the best camping, glamping and touring sites the UK has to offer. Cheddar Bridge Touring Park in Cheddar took home the Best Adult Only Campsite in the South West.
Judges said the site is in a prime location by the River Yeo and just a five minute walk into the heart of Cheddar. There are waterside pitches, or cosy camping pods, with Cheddar Gorge also just a stone’s throw away.

The site has gained an impressive 4.96 star rating on their travel listing, with 100% saying they would recommend the site. Guests continue to leave huge praise with comments including "We landed on our feet finding this little campsite” and “Beautiful site with immaculate toilet and shower facilities”.
Old Oaks Touring Park in Glastonbury was also runner up of the Best Adult Only Campsite in the South West, with Somerset dominating in the category. Other winners include Bridgwater’s Burton Springs Holidays who won runner up of the Best Campsite in the South West.
The annual Campsites.co.uk awards celebrate those sites who go above and beyond for their guests throughout the year. But 2023-24 overall winners Warren Farm Holiday Centre in Somerset lost the top spot to Trevornick in Hollywell Bay, Cornwall. AA revealed, Trevornick - the large seaside holiday complex - has excellent facilities and amenities, including a pool complex with extra spa room, sun lounge area, children's splash pool and eating venues.
Commenting on the inspector's favourite features the consumer website said this included:
Plenty of entertainment including a children's club and an evening cabaret
A sandy beach is just a 15-minute footpath walk away.
The park has 36 Euro tents for hire, plus luxury static caravans
Not only that, the site includes fun for everyone - if you're worried about the weather or just simply want to stay indoors there's a games room, licensed bar, shop onsite and a cafe!
Other facilities include and outdoor pool, playground, entertainment, gold course, sports field and even fishing! If that's not all, the location of the holiday park might be enough to lure you.
AA says: "Cornwall has just about everything – wild moorland landscapes, glorious river valley scenery, picturesque villages and miles of breathtaking coastline.
"With more than 80 surfing spots, there are plenty of sporting enthusiasts who also make their way here to enjoy wave-surfing, kite surfing and blokarting."
The holiday park boasts a 4.5 rating on Google with customers sharing their experience, one person said: "I love this holiday park, there is so much on offer, from basic amenities to fun and entertainment for you and your family.
"The team at Trevornick is always friendly and welcoming, adding to that holiday experience. From the staff working in the shops and the club to the team that work the grounds. Everyone that you see is there to help (must be the Cornish air).
"With lodges, statics, and simple camping pitches to choose from, this site welcomes all, including our four-legged friends. Catering to the needs of our extended family, there is also a dog walking field away from the main camping area. There is plenty of space and bins for their business.
"For those not in the mood for cooking, Trevornick offers several dining experiences. They have Woody's bar and restaurant. This is a wonderful surf style bar situated at the back end of the golf course. And there is a takeaway near the shop and club. This is set up in your traditional fish and chip shop style but with some seating if you wish to eat in."
