Somerset Carnivals 2024 all the winners as County Champions crowned

The Somerset County Carnivals for 2024 have come to a conclusion. And Huckyduck Carnival Club with their Brunel themed tableaux have won the County Cup.

The club from Coleford won their class at all seven of the processions to win The Starkey Cup for the overall champions for the third successive year – having also won it outright in 2022 for When Movies Were Movies, and sharing it with Ramblers last year with their December The 25 ^th entry.

Huckyduck also won The Biffen 50th Anniversary Cup for best tableau, the fourth straight occasion and six of the last seven years. Pentathlon CC from North Petherton came second with Outlaws, ahead of Roahl Dahl’s Imagination by Wills CC.

The open feature class and the Midsomer Norton Cup was won by Gremlins CC's Beatlemania, which won five of the seven processions. Ramblers CC and Pinball, which won the other two processions, came second, just ahead of Masqueraders CC with Step Right Up in third. The Manor by Renegades CC finished fourth.

Newmarket CC with Tour de Somerset won best comic feature, ahead of Nee Naw by Nunsford Nutters CC and Oh Crop! By Cary Comedians CC. Rubalo JCC with Birds of Paradise won best juvenile feature, completing the sweep of all seven carnival victories, with Country Kidz from Hillview JCC in second place.

Bridgwater Belles Dance Team with Totally Bonkers won the Group of Masqueraders class, ahead of The Academy of Carnival’s Playgroup entry. Rhythm Fever CC and Avast Ye won the Juvenile Masqueraders class.

ABC CC with Beatlemania won the Group of Masqueraders (three-five) class, winning all seven carnivals, A&A CC with The Time Machine won the Pairs class, Jacks CC with Ragtime won Single Adult Masquerader, Little R with Silver Ball won Single Juvenile Masquerader, while Bubbles CC and Egyptopia won Class for Singles or Pairs – the latter trio all winning all seven carnivals.
