Formed in Wales in 1981 by lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Mike Peters, ’80s hitmakers the Alarm came to be known for uplifting songs, idealistic values and a powerhouse live show. What some fans don’t know is Peters’s unique backstory, which is chronicled in the music documentary Man in the Camo Jacket, out July 4.
The film traces Peters’s rise to fame, battles with cancer, and inspiring climb back as he enlists some of the world’s top musicians to help save the lives of cancer patients around the globe. Filmed over the course of eight years, the film documents Peters’ journeys to the summits of some of the world’s tallest mountains … and to the depths of his regular chemotherapy treatments. It also features one-of-a-kind performances from Peters and some of his legendary rock musician friends, including Slim Jim Phantom of Stray Cats, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Billy Bragg, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Richard Blade, and Martha Quinn.
Yahoo Music is excited to debut Peters’s “Love Hope and Strength” for fans to get a taste of the music in the film.
The soundtrack to the movie will be out June 30 via J2 Music / Twenty First Century Records / ATA Records. The Alarm will perform on this year’s Warped Tour from July 7 to August 6 in addition to their other concert dates. For the band’s complete summer tour schedule, visit here.
