Now we know who'll be leading the Mayans into war in the Sons of Anarchy spinoff.

Former Revolution star JD Pardo has landed the coveted lead role in FX's pseudo-sequel to the original Sons of Anarchy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He'll be playing the Mayan recruit EZ Reyes, who is torn between his vengeance against the Mexican drug cartels and the woman he loves.

The setting for Mayans MC will move south from the fictional city Charming to the area between the California and Mexico border, and is set after the events of Sons of Anarchy's bloody finale.

Pardo is probably best known for playing militia soldier Jason Neville in Revolution. He's also memorably played the vampire-human hybrid Nahuel in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

His co-stars in Sons of Anarchy include Fast & Furious' John Ortiz as Mayans leader Taino and Battlestar Galactica's captain Edward James Olmos as EZ's father.

In spite of his character's seemingly-gruesome end in Sons of Anarchy, Charlie Hunnam has previously hinted that he could cameo in Mayans MC under a very specific set of circumstances.

Mayans MC is the creation of Sons of Anarchy writer Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, the filmmaker behind indie hits Lowriders and Little Birds.

The SOA spinoff is currently in the pilot stage at US channel FX. We should hear about a possible full season once the pilot goes in front of the camera.
