Drunk texters and timid flirters will be pleased to hear that WhatsApp will soon let you delete messages you’ve sent before the other person reads them.

The new feature will also allow you to edit your sent messages before they’re seen, thus lessening the embarrassment of typos and revealing autocorrects.

Currently in the testing phase, the new features should come to your phone within the next few months – although there’s also a chance that they never will if bugs or backlash cause WhatsApp to pull them.

You can delete Whatsapp messages from conversations at the moment, but doing so doesn’t actually remove them from the conversation on the reader’s phone.

As well as these new tools that we’re now referring to as ‘the drunk person’s friend’, WhatsApp is trialling a feature that will make it easier to meet up with pals by allowing you to send your live and moving location to contacts.

This means they’ll be able to track your movements for a limited time – one, two or five minutes – and is known as Live Location Tracking.

If you’re concerned about privacy and don’t want people to ever see your location, it’s thought you will be able to disable the feature in settings.

Other handy features being tested in the beta version of the upcoming app update are the ability to reply to friends’ statuses and a nifty way of reporting spam simply by giving your phone a good shake.
