Sophie Gradon's cousin has shared a tribute to the former Love Island star, who sadly passed away this week at the age of 32.

Charlotte Martin posted a photo of herself and Sophie as children on Instagram and added a touching tribute message.

"I love you so much. You will never know how much I idolised you and the ground you walked on," she wrote.

"Growing up I was always so immensely excited to see you and that never stopped. I'd copy your outfits growing up just to be an ounce as cool as you and talk about you nonstop. You were everything I wanted to be and more, the most caring and hilarious person I knew.

"The beacon of any room you entered and I will remember your smile and laugh forever. My soapy soap suds."

Sophie had previously shared Charlotte's Instagram profile on her own page back in September 2016, writing: "Everyone, meet my cousin @iamcharlottemartin she's my baby sherbet marteen and I'm so proud of her."

Sophie's ex-boyfriend Tom Powell, who she was coupled with on Love Island during the 2016 series, has also paid tribute to Sophie, saying he was "totally devastated" following her death.

ITV dedicated an episode of Love Island to Sophie this week, sharing an image of her at the beginning of Thursday's show with a message "in loving memory" as well a brief moment of silence in her honour.

The show also released a statement after news of her passing, saying: "The whole ITV2 and Love Island team are profoundly saddened to hear the news about Sophie, and our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to her family and friends."

The current Islanders have been informed of Sophie's death off camera, with Sophie's friend Ellie Brown choosing to stay in the villa in the wake of the news.
